their eyes are waching god ch.7-9

In chapter 9 when Janie talks about how the angels grew jealous of man and chopped him up and covered him in mud. This relates to what Janie did in the store to Joe. Janie lashes out at Joe much like the angels did to man. Janie brakes Joe’s spirit and glory in away that ends up killing him. Joe also plays the roll of the angels to Janie. Joe suppresses and stops Janie from being her self and becoming a individual. The constant pain the Joe puts Janie throw is what makes Janie get mad at Joe in the store. Janie and Joe are both to blame for hurting one another and not heeling the pain till it was to late to do so although Janie dose make an attempt to do so.

You've got some interesting ideas here about Jody as the victim, but Janie isn't covering him up. She isn't doing anything to make him sparkle less. In that way, Jody is not like the man in the parable.

I c what ur saying but idk so much about Jody being like the man in the story. I mean janie was doing so much for him, sure in the end she flipped out and kinda cut him down, but he deserved it. he obviously didn't hav any balls if he had to cut her down to make himself feel more important lol. anyway yea i think janie is more like the man because Jody is jealous of her, and he's jealous that all the other guys like her and he can't get the ladies like he used to, so he need to cut her down and make her feel bad so that he could feel better about himself so thats y i think that janie is more like the man and jody is more like the angels
