trapped in a bell jar

Esther felt trapped under a bell jar because she is stuck in a part of her life and she can look out and is overwhelmed and every one else is looking in and telling her where to go. Esther is lost in her like and every one is telling her to go in a different direction. It is like what she says on page 185 at the beginning of chapter 15. Esther says “If Mrs. Guinea had given me a ticket to Europe, or a round the world cruise, it wouldn’t have made one scrap of difference to me because wherever I sat – on the deck of a ship or at a street cafĂ© in Paris or Bangkok – I would be sitting under the same glass bell jar, stewing in my own sour air.” This shows how she is stuck in this place and she cant seem to get out of it and even though people might be trying to help her she is on her own in this spot alone.
